Our plans for the rest of the year are simple: tour next month (more on that later), ward off panic attacks, finish a new full-length album, finally read Infinite Jest, destroy our enemies, raise our friends high, and listen to the grass grow.

We are always busy with one project or another and right now is no exception. Matt recently produced and engineered an album by our pal Ben Vaughn. I think it's good. Strange folk songs. Strange pop songs. Unexpected arrangements. It is a pleasure to hear my friends/bandmates/contemporaries make music I like this much. It is coming out on our label, Plaza Records, and you can pre-order it HERE along with other titles on the label. Shipping starts 9/5 and you can pick one up at Plaza Records that day or at the PLAZA / CMC showcase that night at Hangar 9 w/ Lucero and Promised Land Sound.

We will be releasing our new ep, Venus Birds, next week. It will be available to download on our bandcamp page on Tuesday, March 4. In other news, our friend Mike Faris is hard at work on a clinically psychedelic video for the Venus Birds track "Dart Board Blacklist". Similarly, our close friend and eternal roommate Dustin Houston, is working on a stop motion film to accompany the Venus Birds track "Four is the New Three". On an unrelated note, I just watched the sunrise and I hope you saw it as well.

Hi there,
Our new ep is being mastered as these words are being typed. It is called Venus Birds. We're happy with it, and especially with the fact that it sounds very different than New Colony (which we just released in September, if you're keeping score). We're currently working out some tour dates, making demos for another very different sounding ep, and drinking a lot of coffee.All three of us have recorded solo material this year as well. 2013 was a pretty good year for this band. We didn't get robbed and we only did a 180 spin-out on the interstate once. We didn't die, so here we are. 2014.
