Hello,
We will be releasing our new ep, Venus Birds, next week. It will be available to download on our bandcamp page on Tuesday, March 4. You may also order the physical product from there or from our web store on that date. We're going to have a bit of a party at the Hangar 9 to celebrate. Stop by if you're in Carbondale, as that will be the first time we wheel out the new ep for public eyes. That show will also feature our cousins The Flowers of Evil and our best girl Jenny Johnson. We will post SXSW specifics here shortly and will also update / add some tour dates.

In other news, our friend Mike Faris is hard at work on a clinically psychedelic video for the Venus Birds track "Dart Board Blacklist". Similarly, our close friend and eternal roommate Dustin Houston, is working on a stop motion film to accompany the Venus Birds track "Four is the New Three". On an unrelated note, I just watched the sunrise and I hope you saw it as well.

Take care,
DB

No planet has been mistaken for a UFO more than Venus

Hi there,
Our new ep is being mastered as these words are being typed. It is called Venus Birds. We're happy with it, and especially with the fact that it sounds very different than New Colony (which we just released in September, if you're keeping score). We're currently working out some tour dates, making demos for another very different sounding ep, and drinking a lot of coffee. All three of us have recorded solo material this year as well. HERE'S SOME an HERE'S SOME MORE.

2013 was a pretty good year for this band. We didn't get robbed and we only did a 180 spin-out on the interstate once. We didn't die, so here we are. 2014.

WE'RE GOING TO COLONIZE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES

Hi,

We’ve been hard at work on the parts of making a record that have nothing to do with sound. Just the normal stuff. We spent 4 days covering a room in maps. We hired a photographer. We bothered the pressing plant a lot (we’re going to bother them more) and we bought a ton of red Chinese new year envelopes. Now we wait for a bunch of boxes to get delivered to Plaza Records—our safe haven, practice space, and harbor of semi-useless esoteric knowledge. NEW COLONY will be available digitally very soon. Check back here or on our Facebook page for that date. We’ll be getting back in the swing of playing shows very soon as well. Here’s what we have so far:

  JULY

* Saturday, 27 - Skihaus w/ Autonomy, North Korea 666, Nones [Benefit for Julianna Campbell]

* Monday, 29 - WBDX radio performance [Rock with the Ox / 91.1 fm]

AUGUST
*Saturday, 9 - John Brown's on the Square
[the second and final time we perform The Beatles' HELP in it's entirety]

* Friday, 16 - Hangar 9  w/ William Feigns, Jenny Johnson
*Friday, August 23 - FRIDAY NIGHT FAIR @ Carbondale Town Square

SEPTEMBER

* Thursday, 5 - PK's w/ The Copyrights, Heat Tape [Carbondale Rocks Revival Festival]

* Monday, 9 - Big Muddy IMC w/ Calvin Johnson

NOVEMBER
Saturday, 9 - Copper Dragon [Summer Art for All Fundraiser]

Here's a promo spot for the record, the first of many, made at 4am.
